With the release of the National Research Infrastructure Roadmap (Roadmap) and the recent election, the future looks more robust and secure for AuScope and the NCRIS organisations.

The new Roadmap outlines a clear set of recommendations and identifies several opportunities for step-change that will provide AuScope and the geosciences with numerous opportunities for growth and renewal. These key areas have been highlighted here. The AuScope 10-Year Strategy 2020 - 2030 and Downward Looking Telescope concept will serve us well as the NCRIS organisations including AuScope develop Research Infrastructure Investment Plans (RIIP) for the Commonwealth later this year.

The Roadmap recognises the importance of collaboration across all levels, from researchers, disciplines, organisations and international exchanges. A recent development we are pleased to announce is our involvement in a new international collaborative project funded by the European Commission and led by CODATA. The project is called WorldFAIR and is designed to foster global cooperation on FAIR data policy and practice. AuScope will lead the geochemistry component of this multidisciplinary program.

In AuScope Program and Projects news, the Mobile Petrophysics Lab is up and running. We are also delighted to welcome several new partners to the AuScope Geochemistry Network (in the AGN+ Pilot Project). These include the Melbourne Museum, The University of Wollongong and James Cook University, The University of Tasmania, The University of Queensland, The University of Adelaide and the Australian National University.

I would also like to let you know that AuScope has signed a partnership agreement with the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) to provide computing and storage to the geoscience community. Our new Director of Research Data Systems, Dr Rebecca Farrington will be reaching out to the community to develop this program, but please feel free to contact her if you would like to be involved.

Here at HQ, we have been loving the community photos shared on social media over the last quarter, so much so that we will be building a web gallery and will be featuring them each quarter. Keep up the great work and please keep sharing your snaps with us on social media (linking us in where possible using @auscope #AuScope #NCRIS).

Warm regards, Tim Rawling
