Dr Sima Mousavi and colleagues have used AuSIS data to reveal the ‘blind fault’ that led to Melbourne's 2021 earthquake.

“Blind faults can pose a significant threat as they can generate large earthquakes but they are hidden from us. This can make it difficult to identify areas that are at risk from earthquakes”

Researchers have used NCRIS enabled AuSIS data to identify the location, fault plane and rupture pattern of an Australian earthquake using only seismic data.
